Analysis of Song Lyrics
As the song is about the speaker needing constant love and someone near him and how is he is struggling to find that, we decided to film our music video in a "home film" way. The idea behind this was for the video to show how the speakers life was before when he had a long time partner and how happy he was with her. When editing we filmed in black and white to create a nostalgic effect and slow mo'd parts of the video again to create that image of "what used to be".

Planning My Music Video
Song Choice?
For my music video, my partner and I will be using Hannah Trigwell's cover of Sam Smith's song, "Stay With Me". The reason we decided to use a cover as opposed to the original, is because, our actress playing the protagonist would not match with Sam Smith's male vocals therefore it would be easier to create verisimilitude by using Hannah Trigwell's female vocals.
Concept, Narrative or Performance?
For our music video we have decided to do a performance video. With our limited time and resources we also think producing a narrative video would be easiest to film and edit as we can focus on the protagonist of the video more as opposed to spending more time on effects etc. Due to the songs lyrics we think a narrative video would not be appropriate because the song isn't really a narrative, as it focuses more about the speakers thoughts and feelings of being alone, so we believe a narrative video would not capture these thoughts as well as a performance can. The song itself is not very conceptual in itself, therefore we thought we would struggle to to produce a concept video. Although we have decided to do a performance video, there may be elements of the other video types, as it is common in music videos for the different styles to merge or have aspects of one another entwined in a music video.
